This December you can double your donation and help us give the gift of hope to vulnerable people, as part of our Big Give Christmas Challenge.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match funding campaign and takes place from noon 1st December to noon 8th December. It gives our supporters the opportunity to have the value of any online donations made during this week DOUBLED.

We have secured match funding of £3,600 for the Christmas Challenge, including £1,500 from The Reed Foundation. During the Christmas Challenge, your generous donations will be doubled by our match funding pot.

So, one donation, twice the impact.

Please save the date in your diary. We have set up an event on our Facebook Page where we will be posting more information in the lead up to the Challenge and over the week itself.

Through our fundraising this year, we have already been able to provide over 1,000 people who are vulnerable or victims of crime with vouchers to use our 24/7 professional monitoring service Hollie Guard Extra (HGE) free of charge.

We know HGE is making a difference, helping people stay safe during these especially difficult times. With your help we will be able to offer this innovative service to more people.

Klara Sudbury, our Fundraising Manager said: “We are really excited to be to have been chosen to take part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2020! This is the first time we have taken part; it is a great opportunity for us to engage with our supporters and local businesses, to raise vital funds for victims of domestic abuse and stalking. Please get involved in any way that you can and help us reach our target. The more money we raise the more people we will be able to help.”

How does it work?

How can you get involved?

By making a donation online through our dedicated Big Give webpage between 1st and 8th December.

If you are considering supporting The Trust in the run up to Christmas, please consider making your donation during the Big Give so your kind gift will be doubled.

We regularly receive gifts from people who donate instead of giving Christmas cards, or even those who get into the festive spirit and give over Christmas. We know this is a difficult time for everyone, so anything you can contribute is greatly received.

Alternatively, you and your friends, family or colleagues could fundraise for us by holding a cake sale, online event, doing a sponsored walk or any other idea you have.

To receive an email reminder on the 1st December 2020 please click HERE to join our email list and we will send you a prompt at the start of the Christmas Challenge.

Remember….with the Big Give Christmas Challenge it is one donation, twice the impact. So, everything you raise will double in value.

What is our target?

We have already raised £3,600 in pledges for our Match Funding Pot. In the summer £2,100 has been pledged by our generous supporters and £1,500 by The Reed Foundation. We aim to raise at least £3,600 in donations during the Big Give Christmas Challenge, meaning £7,200 is our overall target.

To qualify for match funding donations must:

  • Be given via this webpage – https://donate.thebiggive.org.uk/campaign/a051r00001fGSVUAA4 donations sent by cheque or via other platforms will not qualify for match funding.
  • Must be made between 12 noon 1st December and 12 noon 8th December 2020.
  • All donations made via this website during that time will be doubled up to £3,600.

What we are fundraising for?

We are fundraising to provide vouchers for people experiencing domestic abuse to use Hollie Guard Extra (HGE) free of charge. HGE provides a link for domestic abuse victims at a time of danger, to a 24/7 professional security service who will be able to escalate the response required according to the situation, just by shaking or tapping their smart phone.

We have secured grant funding which has enabled us to provide over 1,000 people with this valuable service throughout England and Wales, free of charge.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge seeks to build on this work and enable more victims of domestic abuse or stalking to benefit from this service, at no charge. If we reach our target of £7,200, we will be able to give 72 victims of domestic abuse Hollie Guard Extra free of charge for a 12-month period.

Our proposed project is very flexible, there are one off fixed costs per voucher; this includes the cost of the voucher and staff costs for administering and evaluating the project. The more funds we raise, the more vouchers we can issue and the more people who will benefit. HGE is covered by Secure By Design and all relevant accreditations.

What problem are we solving?

For the year ending March 2019, the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) showed that an estimated 2.4 million adults aged 16 to 74 years experienced domestic abuse in the last year.

This equates to a prevalence rate of approximately 6 in 100 adults. Domestic abuse is often a hidden crime that is not reported to the police. Therefore, data held by the police can only provide a partial picture of the actual level of domestic abuse experienced.

Thank you.
