Take Action Bystander Training in Gloucester | HGT

Active Bystander Training Event

We all have a role to play

As part of the 16 Days of Action, the Hollie Gazzard Trust is inviting people from across Gloucestershire to join us for a FREE Take Action Bystander Training session at Gloucester Brewery.

Wednesday 9 December 2026 | 9am–12pm | Gloucester Brewery

Have you ever witnessed behaviour that didn’t feel right but weren’t sure whether, or how, to step in?

Take Action Bystander Training is not about putting yourself at risk or creating confrontation. It is about recognising inappropriate or harmful behaviour, understanding your options and choosing a safe and appropriate way to respond.

What is Take Action Bystander Training?

Delivered by Sara Dillon, Training Manager at the Hollie Gazzard Trust, this practical session will give participants the knowledge and confidence to recognise situations where someone may need support and understand the different ways they can respond safely and appropriately.

During the session, participants will explore how to:

  • recognise inappropriate or harmful behaviour
  • understand the role we can all play when we witness inappropriate or harmful behaviour
  • explore safe ways to take action, from direct responses to distraction, delegation, checking in, reporting concerns or seeking further help where appropriate
  • feel more confident responding when something doesn’t feel right
  • understand how individual actions can contribute to safer workplaces and communities

The aim is not to encourage confrontation. There are many ways to respond, and the right action will depend on the situation. Sometimes a small intervention, a check-in or asking someone else for help can make a significant difference.

Who is the training for?

The event is open to all.

At the Hollie Gazzard Trust, we believe creating safer workplaces and communities is something we all have a role in.

Help us continue this work 💜

We want this training to be accessible to as many people as possible, which is why there is no charge to attend.

However, if you are able to, we would be incredibly grateful if you would consider making a donation when you book your place.

As a charity, donations help make our work possible. They enable us to continue delivering education and training, raising awareness and giving people the knowledge and confidence to recognise harmful behaviours, support others and help create safer communities.

Whatever you can give, your donation will help us continue Hollie’s legacy and reach more people with this important work.

Thank you for supporting the Hollie Gazzard Trust. 💜

Date: Wednesday 9 December 2026
Time: 9am–12pm
