We believe the workplace can (and should) be a place of safety, support and strength. That’s why we recently joined forces with TSB to host a powerful business breakfast event at their Brockworth offices, focused on tackling domestic abuse and stalking in the workplace.
The morning brought together HR professionals, senior leaders and wellbeing champions, all committed to creating safer environments for their staff. Abuse doesn’t stop at home, it can follow victims into the office, branch or shop floor, affecting their safety, mental health and ability to perform at work. Employers have both a moral and legal duty to protect their people, and we’re here to help them do just that.
Hollie was murdered by her ex-partner in her workplace, a tragic reminder of how quickly abuse can escalate, and how important it is for workplaces to be equipped to respond.
Attendees heard from a range of inspiring and insightful voices, including:
-
Nick Gazzard OBE, founder of the Hollie Gazzard Trust, who shared Hollie’s story and highlighted the shocking statistics surrounding abuse and stalking in the workplace.
-
Sophie Wootton-Lee, from the office of MP Alex McIntyre, who discussed how policy is evolving to protect victims.
-
Superintendent Sharon Baker, Avon & Somerset Police, who bravely opened up about her own experience of abuse and spoke about law enforcement’s role in tackling stalking and domestic violence.
One of the most moving parts of the morning was a panel discussion chaired by our CEO Jane Harvey, featuring two courageous survivors. Their stories were powerful, emotional, and a stark reminder of why our work matters.
We also heard from Alex Kirby of Kirby and Knott Financial Planning, who spoke about what small and medium-sized businesses can do to support staff, and Angla Gibson from TSB who shared the proactive steps the bank is taking to support both employees and customers impacted by abuse.
The event wrapped up with a practical Lone Worker training session, delivered by our experienced Training Manager, Sara Dillon and Hollie Guard Manager, Poppy Fletcher. She explored the risks faced by those working alone and the tools employers can put in place to help keep them safe. Thanks to our partnership with TSB, their customers can access Hollie Guard Extra (powered by PanicGuard) free for 12 months.
We’re grateful to everyone who gave up their time to make this event a success, from the speakers and panellists, our hosts at TSB, and guests. Events like this are a vital part of our mission to prevent abuse, support survivors, and build a safer future for all.
