What a fantastic event!

We were overwhelmed with the support on Purple HollieDay 2022. In only its second year, this really has already become one of the favourite dates in our charity calendar.

Purple HollieDay aims to replicate the joy for life that Hollie had. We encourage you to be creative and have fun as you #GoPurple to raise funds for and awareness of the work of The Trust. Purple HollieDay is a day to remember Hollie, and all those who have tragically lost their lives to domestic abuse, domestic violence, stalking and knife crime. A great opportunity to have fun but also think about how we would like to be treated in our relationships.

All day on Friday 8th July 2022 we asked you to be free and create your event in your own special way! You did not disappoint.

Schools, colleges, businesses, organisations, groups, families and individuals in both Gloucestershire and beyond got behind the initiative and we saw all manner of pleasing purple antics across social media.

From purple based dress down at workplaces and schools, purple bunting around Gloucester city centre, to tasty cakes, bright balloons and beautiful flowers, the day got off to a flyer. Culminating in Nick Gazzard’s evening walk around Gloucester to take in the brightly lit up King’s Square and the glorious Gloucester Cathedral illuminated purple to mark the special occasion.

Founder, Nick Gazzard, said: ”Purple HollieDay is a relatively new event but it’s generated so much interest and support already. It’s all about fun, being creative with the colour purple and remembering the amazing spirit of Hollie and all the other people who have been taken too soon as a result of domestic abuse and knife crime. This year we had so many supporters from all walks of life, businesses, schools, colleges, shops, families and seeing King’s Walk and Gloucester Cathedral lit up for us was a real highlight. Thank you all for your incredible support. We can’t wait for next year!”

We can’t thank you all enough for the love and support we received. The charity exists because of the generosity of the people and businesses who support it. The fundraising efforts go straight in to educating young people on healthy relationships and being able to continue to offer Hollie Guard free of charge to those who need it most. You make the difference. Thank you.

As quickly as Purple HollieDay 2022 has come and gone, we look forward to Purple HollieDay 2023 with much excitement and we’ll share updates on that as soon as we have it.

Thank you again from everyone at the Hollie Gazzard Trust.
