The Crypt School Go Purple

On Friday 12th May 2023 students at The Crypt school in Gloucester dressed up in purple to raise funds and awareness for the Hollie Gazzard Trust.

Key organiser, and year 12 student, was 17-year-old Jessika Kline, pictured with Nick Gazzard, and business teacher Christopher Germaine, and Headmaster Nick Dyer.

Jessika is a big supporter of the Hollie Gazzard Trust, and in addition to the purple dress down, she gave a speech about the charity to her fellow students on the day. The event was arranged because the official Purple HollieDay date of Friday 7th July meant both year 11 and 13 students would miss out, due to finishing for the year, and Jessika didn’t want anyone to miss it. The school also had a bake sale and in total raised an incredible £1,260.17.

Hollie Gazzard Trust Founder, Nick Gazzard, said: ”We’d like to say a really big thank you to The Crypt school and to Jessika. It is great to have Jessika as a passionate supporter of the charity, and she organised the event using her own initiative. Purple HollieDay is always a really fun way of getting involved, particularly for schools, and Jessika has shown that if the date doesn’t quite work then it can be organised to suit your school. The amount raised is fantastic and we are so grateful.”

Thank you to Jessika and all the staff and students at The Crypt school for taking part and raising such vital funds as we continue to tackle domestic abuse and stalking.

Would you like to get involved?

Purple HollieDay is the Hollie Gazzard Trust’s annual day to celebrate Hollie Gazzard’s life and takes place each year in July, Hollie’s birth month. Tragically Hollie had experienced domestic abuse and stalking prior to being fatally stabbed by an ex-partner at her place of work in February 2014. The event recognises the joy for life that Hollie had; as we encourage you to be creative and have fun as you #GoPurple to raise funds for and awareness of the work of The Trust.

Purple HollieDay takes place all day on Friday 7th July 2023, in schools, colleges, workplaces and homes.
