The annual #Walk4Hollie is taking place this Sunday 28th April 2019.

This year the walk will take in a slightly different route of nearly 5 miles, beginning and finishing at the King Edward VII pub in Longlevens, where Hollie worked. The meeting time is 10am ready for a prompt 10:30am start for the walk. The pub have kindly opened their doors to us and people are free to stay afterwards to rest the feet and enjoy a coffee, soft drink, beer or even lunch.

The address is:

The King VII Public House,
47 Old Cheltenham Rd,
Longlevens,
Gloucester
GL2 0AN

The Hollie Gazzard Trust founder, Nick Gazzard, will say a few words before we get started. On the walk we have designated volunteers who will be positioned at the front, middle and back to ensure the safety of all walkers and to keep the group on the correct route.

***IMPORTANT*** Water will not be provided. We are encouraging everyone who is participating in the walk to bring a refillable water bottle with them to reduce plastic waste of the event.

See the route below or on this link: https://www.maps.ie/map-my-route/viewMap.php?route=73175

Stock of t-shirts will be checked and it is expected there will be a limited number to purchase on the day for £10 on a first come first served basis.

The walk is purely to celebrate the life of Hollie who was taken too soon in 2014. So, this year the charity wants to celebrate the success of Hollie Guard and commemorate 5 years since Hollie’s death. Anyone can participate for the whole or part of the walk for free, but anyone wishing to make a donation we have suggested £5 to coincide with the distance of the walk and the years passed. Of course, there is no obligation to make the donation, or you are free to donate more if you wish.

Hollie Guard is our free personal safety app and has gone from strength to strength since it’s launch. We now have well over 30,000 downloads, with police forces up and down the country using the app to help victims of domestic abuse and stalking, but also has lots of functionality that can benefit anyone.

Do you feel uncomfortable leaving your home? Do you travel alone to and from work? Do your children travel to and from school alone or with their friends?

Having Hollie Guard on your phone can give three types of alert if you or a loved one experiences danger – personal, stealth and deterrent.

The app is offered for free as we want no-one to be unable to have access to this safety tool. But it does come with maintenance costs, so every £5 donation will contribute to the maintenance and development of Hollie Guard.

You do not need to be taking part in the walk to donate – you might have downloaded Hollie Guard on your phone, know someone who has or just want to make a donation to the Hollie Gazzard Trust.

We’d like to thank everyone for their continued support over the last 5 years – we really couldn’t do it without you.

We look forward to seeing many of you there.
