The Hollie Gazzard Trust recently had the privilege of delivering a series of assembly presentations to all year groups at SGS Forest High School. These sessions, covering Knife Crime Awareness and Active Bystander Training, aimed to educate and inspire students to make positive choices while fostering a safer community.

Thanks to grant funding from Tesco Stronger Starts, we were able to carry out this initiative. The Gloucester community voted for our cause, and we were awarded £1,000, which directly supported the delivery of these awareness sessions. We are very grateful to Tesco for their support in helping us reach more young people with our message of safety, awareness, and empowerment.

April from SGS Forest High School shared her appreciation: “I just wanted to extend my sincere thanks for delivering such thought-provoking assemblies to all year groups today. The sessions were incredibly impactful, and both staff and students have been talking about them throughout the day. It is truly inspiring that Hollie’s family has established this trust in her memory, using her story to create positive change and educate young people. The message was powerful, and the bystander element, in particular, really resonated with the students, sparking meaningful discussions.Thank you again for your time and for sharing such an important message with our school community. I hope we can work together again in the future.”

Thank you to all staff and pupils at SGS Forest High School for the positive reaction to these sessions. By engaging young people in meaningful conversations about safety and intervention we continue to honour Hollie’s legacy and make a difference going forward.

We’d also like to extend a big thank you to Tesco Stronger Starts for their invaluable support. Their commitment to community-driven projects enables charities like ours to reach more young people and create lasting change.

Our bystander training programmes were developed by/ in partnership with sector leading academics Professor Rachel Fenton and Dr Nathan Eisenstadt, co-founder/Directors of Kindling Transformative Interventions Ltd. Their programmes are rigorously evaluated, read more about the evidence base here. We have a long running proud partnership with Kindling and are proud to deliver their bystander intervention training programmes under license.
