HGT would like to thank Police Sport UK 2016 for their support where vital funds were raised over two days of volleyball in September. Hosted for the first time by Gloucestershire Police, the PSUK National Volleyball Championships saw police forces from across the country battle it out for the coveted ladies’ and men’s trophies.
Seventeen teams descended on Oxstalls Sports Park at Plock Court in Gloucester to represent London, Scotland, Lancashire, Northumbria, Dorset, Merseyside, Gloucestershire, Sussex and Essex where competition was stiff. PC Rachel Seedall, PSUK’s Volleyball Secretary said: “The volleyball was a high standard.” She congratulated Merseyside ladies’ and Scotland men’s teams for winning the overall championship and paid tribute to the ladies’ and men’s teams from Sussex who took the plates.
It was a highly successful event with dinner at Jury’s Inn, Cheltenham, on the Saturday night, where presentations were given by Nick Gazzard, who attended with Mandy Gazzard and Del Ellis from Increase the Peace. Both charities were represented at Plock Court during the championships and more than £1,500 was raised for HGT and ITP.
Police Sport UK represents all Police Forces across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and provides sporting opportunities for over 300,000 serving and retired police staff. A comprehensive range of sporting sections provide competition at local, regional, national and international levels.
With thanks to PC Rachel Seedall.
